HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

All bookings are by scheduled appointments only. Please contact us by phone 01-6111444 or email info@thebodywiseclinic.ie

WHAT IF I AM LATE OR MISS MY APPOINTMENT?

If you are late for your appointment it is possible that you may lose time from your treatment and be charged the full amount. Our busy therapists have an obligation to start the next scheduled appointment on time. Should you need to cancel/change an appointment, 24hours notice is required, otherwise, a cancellation fee of 100% of your treatment will incur. We appreciate your understanding. As a courtesy, The Bodywise Clinic sends Reminder Texts to all patients the day before their appointment confirming the date and time of their appointments. However, due to technical errors that are out of our control, we cannot be held responsible for undelivered texts. Therefore, we strongly suggest all patients of The Bodywise Clinic not to solely rely on our texts to remember their scheduled appointments.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE AT THE CLINIC FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

We recommend all new patients aim to arrive at the clinic 10-15 minutes ahead of their scheduled appointment time. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the location of our clinic on Suffolk Street in Dublin 2 and give you some time to relax before your treatment commences and to enjoy one of our delicious tasty Herbal Teas while you fill out your Consultation Form in the comfort of our warm and relaxing reception area.

WHY DO I NEED TO FILL OUT A CONSULTATION FORM?

All new patients will be required to fill out and sign a Consultation Form before their first treatment starts. We suggest you arrived 10-15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment time to fill out your Consultation Form. One of our friendly receptionists will ask you to take a seat in our comfortable waiting area and offer you a refreshing drink while you take the time to fill out your details on your form. The information you disclose is kept strictly confidential. Once completed, your therapist will go over the information on your Consultation Form with you in one of our private treatment rooms and may ask you questions about your medical history. This is to ensure your treatment is tailored to specifically suit you and to also ensure you do not have any medical contraindications which would prevent the therapist from being unable to treat your ailment(s). Please note: This one-to-one Consultation Time with your therapist is mandatory and most of the time should take no more than a few minutes. It is also included in the length of your treatment time.

DO YOU HAVE SPA AND SHOWER FACILITIES?

We are a Health & Well-Being Clinic, not a Spa.  Therefore, unfortunately, we do not have shower facilities on our premises

CAN I CLAIM BACK FROM MY HEALTH INSURANCE FOR MASSAGE APPOINTMENTS?

Massage Therapy is recognised by most major Irish Health Insurance Companies. However, health insurance plans dramatically differ from one to the next. Should you wish to claim back treatments with your chosen Health Insurance Company, please familiarise yourself with your current Health Plan before booking your appointment at The Bodywise Clinic to ensure the treatment you would like to book is covered.

CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC THERAPIST?

Absolutely! You are most welcome to request a specific therapist. We do our very best to honour your request. However, please be advised this is not always possible due to availability. We will give you the option of booking in with an alternative therapist or at a later date with the therapist of your choice. The Bodywise Clinic prides itself on being an equal opportunities employer, hiring both male and female Massage Therapists, both of which are trained to the absolute highest professional standard. Your appointment may be with a male or female Massage Therapist, depending on availability.

In the very rare event that your therapist is ill on the day you are booked in, we will notify you immediately and do our utmost best to book you in with another therapist that same day. If this is not possible, we may have to rearrange your appointment for another day. Staff sickness is very rare at The Bodywise Clinic, but it can happen and is something that is completely out of our control.

HOW DOES A MASSAGE SESSION FEEL?

At the beginning of each treatment, your therapist will use light pressure. This will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes more relaxed, the pressure will gradually be increased in specific areas to relieve muscular tension. Do not hesitate to ask questions or mention if you feel any discomfort so that your therapist can use another approach or technique. Your therapist will be more than happy to tailor the pressure to suit you specifically. If you have any concerns about the pressure of your massage, the temperature of the room, or your general comfort levels, please discuss these with your therapist during your appointment as complaints of this nature cannot be dealt with at a later stage.

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER THE MASSAGE TREATMENT?

Most people feel relieved of pain. Some experience immediate freedom from long-term aches and pains. After this initial period of feeling deeply relaxed, a majority of people experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity. This can last for several days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during your treatment, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water afterward. Similar to going to the gym, some may feel that their muscles are quite tender, and even slightly bruised after a massage treatment for several days. This is perfectly normal for any type of ‘muscle work-out’, be it a massage or a session at your local fitness centre. This is perfectly normal.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HOLISTIC, DEEP TISSUE AND SPORTS MASSAGE?

A Holistic Massage is ideal for people who like to relax and do not like a lot of pressure during their massage. A Deep Tissue Massage works on the deeper layer of muscles and is therefore ideal for people who prefer more pressure during their massage. For someone who is regularly physically active and has a sports-related injury or trying to avoid one, a Sports Massage is the recommended. More information on these types of massages and all our treatments can be found on their respective pages of our website

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Our top priority is to have you feeling pain-free in the quickest amount of time possible. However, please be advised that we cannot and will not guarantee you will feel better after a specific amount of treatments. It all depends on several variables including the severity of your injury and how quickly your body responds to treatments. Several of our clients experience immediate relief from long-term pain after only one or two sessions, while for others it can take a number of treatments to get back to optimal health.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A MASSAGE TREATMENT?

This depends on your goals and your budget. For maintenance, many people will have a massage appointment once a month. However, it is not uncommon for people to request treatments fortnightly, weekly or more. What is important is that you recognise and prioritise a regime of self-care for yourself. The health benefits that you will receive from massage are cumulative if availed of regularly.

MUST I UNDRESS FOR MY TREATMENT/WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

You will be required to disrobe for a massage session. For hygiene reasons, undergarments are to be left on at all times during all treatments-no exceptions!

We reserve the right to refuse to treat anyone who does not comply with this.

(Ladies, you will be required to remove your bra for back massages). People often ask what clothing should they wear for their appointment. For all massage treatments, you will be disrobing down to your undergarments and as a result, it’s not important what clothing you wear when you arrive at the clinic. Once you are undressed and on the plinth, you will be modestly covered with a large towel. Your therapist will only uncover the part of your body being worked on.

CAN OUR MASSAGE THERAPISTS REFUSE TO TREAT A CLIENT?

Yes! Our Massage Therapist can and will refuse to work on some clients.  Most of the time the client they refuse to work on knows exactly why. Our Massage Therapists have every right (and the responsibility) to protect their own safety. There is no reason to treat our Massage Therapists unpleasantly, inappropriately or rudely.  Furthermore, if the client has exceptionally poor hygiene, our Massage Therapists risk not only picking up a nasty fungus or infection but also spreading it to other clients.   As a rule, new sweat is no problem, (i.e. if you are booked in for a Sports Massage directly after the gym or training). However, old stale sweat is stinky and our Massage Therapists have every right to refuse to treat clients based on their bad hygiene.  Out of respect for our Massage Therapists, and our clients, we kindly ask everyone booked in with us, to please take a shower the morning before their massage. (This is to avoid any difficult or unpleasant conversation we will need to have with clients around not being able to treat them).

Please note: We are a Health & Well-Being Clinic, not a Spa.  Therefore, unfortunately, we do not have shower facilities on our premises.

WHAT AREAS ARE WORKED ON?

A full body massage will include your back, legs, arms, hands, neck, shoulder, face and scalp.
