Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Using very light pressure along with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes; Lymphatic Drainage Massage is known to have a positive effect on people with fluid retention/puffiness (oedema) and also problematic skin (including cellulite).

It is also recommended for individuals who suffer regularly from low energy or common illnesses related to their immune system.

Improve your Immune System. Reduce Swelling and Puffiness. Feel Relaxed.

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels that transport fluid from tissues to the heart. The lymphatic system aids in the fight against infection by filtering waste and cellular debris. Lymphatic drainage massage uses a light touch to stimulate the lymph system.

The goal of non-invasive lymphatic drainage massage is to improve waste removal and lymph flow. It is used to treat cellulite, fluid retention, swelling, and, in some cases, lymphedema.

Following liposuction, patients can experience swelling and bruising at the surgical site. This is due to the removal of fat cells from the body. The lymph nodes can also be affected as the skin sends signals to them.   In response to these signals, the immune system attacks foreign substances such as bacteria or viruses. This causes the lymph nodes to swell and become painful.

In order to reduce swelling and pain, doctors prescribe anti-inflammatory medications. Compression garments are sometimes recommended by doctors to support the lymph nodes. Furthermore, lymphatic drainage massages are frequently recommended by surgeons and doctors to help drain fluid from lymph nodes and improve blood flow.

Overall, lymphatic drainage massage aids in the removal of toxins and waste from the body by increasing lymphatic circulation and decreasing swelling. Patients who have liposuction followed by massage treatment by a professional accredited masseuse report less discomfort and a faster recovery.

Currently, Laya, VHI and HSF Health Insurance companies do NOT cover Massage Therapy. The only Health Insurance Company in Ireland that accepts receipts for Massage Therapy is Irish Life, and this will vary based on their different plans. If your Health Insurance Plan is with Irish Life, please familiarise yourself with the specific plan you have to ensure that Massage Therapy is covered. Furthermore, it is helpful to note if you are claiming back your Massage Therapy treatments for tax purposes, your Massage Therapist(s) does NOT need to be a member of the IMTA (Irish Massage Therapists Association) and therefore a general receipt will suffice. Please allow up to 7 days for your Irish Life Health Insurance Receipts to be emailed to you.
